What to do first
- Water on the floor: shut off the main. It is usually in a meter box with a green cover in front of the house. Turn the valve clockwise.
- Sewage backing up: stop using every drain in the house.
- Leaking water heater: turn off the water and the gas to the heater.
- Then call the emergency line.
